Welcome. I'm Tammy and I teach women how to live, love, work, prosper and thrive according to their true nature.
For years, I wondered why I seemed to struggle with things other people handled easily. Why I needed more quiet, more alone time, more recovery and more space than most, and I felt different because of it. Eventually, I realised I wasn’t broken. I was simply a 'Fern' trying to survive in conditions that weren’t designed for me.
Now, I’m calling all the other Ferns, like me, who are searching for their Forest family.
Not Fern Cotton. Not Fern Britain. But Fern in the foliage sense.
🌿 Ferns don’t always have consistent energy. Some days they feel capable and productive; other days the pace, pressure and demands of the world feel too much, and they pull back, retreat or dream about escaping. They often need more recovery time than most after working, parenting, socialising, busy environments, travelling or being around people.
🌿 They often feel unprotected or exposed, as though they’re missing what it takes to truly relax and switch off without feeling guilty.
🌿 Ferns are often drawn to a slower pace of life – to work differently, live with less pressure and have more space around them.
🌿 They may have spent years feeling like the “black sheep” or the odd one out – different, misunderstood or like they don’t quite fit into the way the world expects people to be. They may often think Why can’t I fit in? Why can’t I conform? Why can’t I keep up?
🌿 Ferns feel deeply. They notice things other people miss and pick up on moods, tension, facial expressions, tone and the atmosphere around them. They can struggle to know where their feelings end and someone else’s begin, easily sensing and absorbing the emotions and pressure around them. Often carrying things that don’t actually belong to them.
🌿 They can be sensitive to light, noise, crowds and overly stimulating environments. What seems perfectly normal or manageable to someone else can leave a Fern feeling overwhelmed or triggered. They may dislike the “big light” being on in the house, prefer softer lighting, or even feel more comfortable with a hat or sunglasses on – almost as if being slightly covered or “undercover” helps them feel more at ease.
🌿 Ferns love sunshine and blue skies but often prefer the gentleness of viewing it from the shade. They like a warm glow rather than continuous harsh exposure and intense glare.
🌿 They genuinely feel restored by nature – especially woodland areas, forests, rivers, lakes or those places where trees and water meet. There can be something about being beneath leafy trees, tall pine trees and natural canopies that gives a Fern a sense of shelter and safety.
🌿 The brightest or busiest parts of the day can feel intense – too much noise, movement and “go, go, go” energy.
🌿 Cold, wind, grey skies, harsh weather or too much heat, sun and rushing around can drain them, while softer, calmer conditions can feel much more supportive.
🌿 Ferns often love the times of day when the world is quiet – early mornings, twilight, sunsets – or perhaps they come alive at night or in the early hours when there is less noise, less expectation and less going on around them.
🌿 They prefer meaningful connection over constant socialising. They’re drawn to quiet places, animals, nature and time alone to recharge.
🌿 They may struggle to feel genuinely confident, open, relaxed and at ease in their own body when they’re not in the right life, environment or relationships,
🌿 They may experience bouts of loneliness – sometimes deeply – even when they have people around them. And because Ferns long for safety, protection and covering, they can be drawn to the big, bold Cactuses who seem confident, strong and able to handle life’s harshness. The Fern thinks hiding behind a Cactus friend, partner or social group is safe, but it can leave her feeling hurt, wary and withdrawn.
This is why Ferns can struggle to let go of people, habits, environments or comforts that help them feel safe, even when they know they’re no longer good for them. To a Fern, letting go can feel more frightening than staying stuck.
But perhaps the question isn’t “What is wrong with me?” Perhaps it’s “What if I’ve simply never had the conditions I need to thrive?” 🌿
Maybe you’re beginning to recognise yourself in this and see why certain people, places and environments have never quite felt right. You were certainly never meant to thrive or fit into a Cactus world.
Ferns aren’t meant to grow alone. They’re part of an eco-system, like a forest, with other trees and plants around them, a canopy above them, and shelter and protection from the elements.
And it’s the same for you. Your eco-system is made up of your environment, your relationships, the people around you, your home, your work and the way you think and live.
When you’re surrounded by the right conditions, you don’t have to force yourself to flourish. You can simply begin to grow.
If something in these pages has made you stop and think “That’s me…” then perhaps this is where your journey begins.
Welcome home. Your Forest is waiting. 🌿
